Wellness is about more than what we eat.

Through HIM Food Bank’s WOW — Wellness on Wheels program, we help our neighbors understand how healthy food choices can support better health. But overall wellness also includes staying mentally engaged, socially connected and actively involved with others.

Mahjong brings those pieces together.

The game requires attention, memory, decision-making and changing strategies as each hand develops. Research, particularly among older adults, has associated Mahjong and similar cognitively engaging activities with better cognitive function, while Mahjong’s four-player format naturally creates regular opportunities for conversation and social connection.
